In 2006, the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) originally fined CBS which broadcast the event the hefty amount of $550,000 for breaking indecency rules by exposing the viewers – especially the young fans watching the game to the singer’s breast.
The network won the first half of the battle but the FCC which deems that the Second Circuit was wrong has decided to take the case to Supreme Court.
The highest court in the land will be separately looking into whether the FCC’s policies against sexual content and nudity violate free speech .
